PCDI – Postdoc Career Development Initiative – supports the career development of postdocs and PhD students in the life sciences, health and technology. The Netherlands recognises that its scientists are an integral part of the knowledge-driven economy. This shows in the development of scientific talent within Dutch academic institutions and in the number of postdocs working in knowledge intensive organisations in the private sector. As more career choices open up for young scientists in the life sciences, so they need support in making the right career choices.
PCDI encourages academic institutions to contribute to career development and improve the prospects of talented young scientists. Our organisation is co-financed by companies and academic institutions alike, and receives subsidies from the Dutch ministry of economic affairs and Platform Beta Techniek.
PCDI organises career development activities where young scientists develop their transferable skills and realise their potential. Our activities are suited for both scientist who have ambitions in academia and researchers who intend to broaden their scientific horizons in industry or non-profit organisations. Many postdocs come to us with questions about taking their career ahead in the life sciences industry. To this aim PCDI works in close cooperation with Dutch academic institutions as well as with the private sector.
