Trained as a scientist, Chiat spent the first 11 years of her career performing research in academia. She worked on cancer gene therapy across Europe, for her PhD (2005) and later as a postdoc. Her interests in communication and project management drew her away from her London laboratory to PCDI back in the Netherlands. In the position of projectcoordinator she combines her creativity and communicative skills to enhance the professional development of early-career researchers. Not only she sets up and coordinates career orientation and development activities, she also builds an online community of postdocs and final year PhD students, to encourage discussion about career matters.
