Anke Klerkx graduates in Molecular Sciences in Wageningen in 1997. After obtaining her PhD in developmental biology at the University of Utrecht, Anke Klerkx switches research fields and performes both basic and clinical research on cholesterol metabolism as a postdoc at the AMC for a total of seven years. During this period she obtains two grants from the Dutch Heart Foundation and becomes active in the Postdoc Career Development Initiative. At this time, she also becomes aware of her organizational skills and drive to help other people, and decides on a career switch towards supporting scientists.

At the department of Cell Biology II, Farid - with the help of many excellent co-workers- is working on the development of chemical approaches toward protein conjugates. Farid El Oualid studied Chemistry at Leiden University (2000) and earned his PhD in Chemistry from the same university (2005). After obtaining a Marie-Curie Fellowship, he spent 3 years as a post-doctoral researcher at Oxford University (2005 – 2008). In the group of Huib Ovaa at the Netherlands Cancer Institute, Farid has developed a new chemical protein-ligation technology that forms the basis of the NKI-AvL spin-off UbiQ (Huib Ovaa is co-inventor and co-founder).

Koen Verhoef is Manager of the Technology Transfer Office of the NKI-AvL since 1 May 2009. In this role, he is also responsible for the coordination of the valorisation activities of the Cancer Genomics Centre. Prior to this, he worked as a business developer/IP specialist within the Technology Transfer Office (TTO) of VU University (VU) and VU University medical centre (VUmc) in Amsterdam.
