Head Analytical Department at Schering-Plough
 After obtaining his Bachelor in clinical-chemistry (1981) and Immunochemistry (1983), he started his Masters at the UvA (1984), besides his full-time position as technician at the Central Laboratory for Clinical Chemistry at the VUMC. Following his graduation in 1991 in Analytical Sciences with Prof H. Poppe, he performed his PhD focused on Analytical MS at the CSIC Research Institute in Barcelona (Spain), in collaboration with the VU.
After receiving his PhD, with Prof. U.A.Th. Brinkman in 1995, he held the position as Head of Laboratory (Analytical MS) and Analytical Project Manager at PharmaBioResearch (Assen) before joining Schering-Plough in 1997 as Groupleader Mass Spectrometry/ Sectionhead Structure Analysis at the Department of Analytical Chemistry for Development. In 2004 he moved to the Medicinal Chemistry Department in Research as Senior Research Associate heading the Analytical Sciences Section and is involved in various public private research projects.
Maarten Honing participated roundtable-discussions at multiple PCDI Postdoc Retreats, including the one of 2010.
