BioMedical Materials Program

The BioMedical Materials program (BMM) is a public-private partnership in which leading industrial and academic players and the Dutch government are united to stimulate groundbreaking research into the development of biomedical materials. BMM aims at enabling medical breakthroughs in healthcare to meet the increasing socio-economic demand for more effective and efficient medical treatment. Moreover, by stimulating biomedical material research, BMM further strengthens the world-leading position of the Netherlands in the field of biomedical materials.

With a total amount of M€ 90 available, BMM’s research agenda focuses on new therapies and applications that prevent chronic organ and tissue failure and contribute to the improvement in patients’ quality of live.

Five strategic multidisciplinary research lines are chosen to either:

A) treat a disease:
1. cardiovascular
2. musculoskeletal
3. nephrology

B) prevent inflammation:
4. antimicrobial coatings
C) improve drug delivery:
5. advanced targeted drug delivery

BMM offers a unique opportunity to participate in groundbreaking top-quality research in the field of biomedical materials development in the Netherlands. To maintain and elaborate on the high quality standard of biomedical research, BMM is dedicated to provide state-of-the-art education and training programs for all BMM participants.

BMM is seeking highly motivated PhD-students, PostDocs, and Technicians that are willing to participate in one of the five research lines at our designated academic and industrial partners throughout the Netherlands.
