Don’t be surprised that your phonecall to the Embassy will require your creditcard number (this is the first thing they will ask you to provide) in order to pay 15 euros for the phone call which you have to make in order to make an appointment for the interview. Have all your documents, creditcard, passport ready before you make the phonecall.
Make sure the green waiver paper is not in your passport from one of your latest visits to the USA. If you by any case still have it in your passport, send it back to the address below a.s.a.p. with a letter explaining the situation and proof that you left the USA in the meanwhile (bankaccount, salary checks, bording pass, etc).

You have to make sure you have an invitation letter from the University/department you are going to work for (make sure you have arranged your health insurance with them or by yourself if they are not providing this service).
www.craigslist.com is a very handy website if you’re searching for an appartment. However, contacting your future collegues and asking them for help/tips might be a wise thing to do as well.
My experience is that one way flight is more expensive that retour ticket…however, if anyone knows any cheap-flight websites, suggestions are welcome!

very nice to read about someone else having to fill out numerous forms for a job in the USA.
We have just gotten our visa last week, but gathering all the necessary documentation alone already was a lifetime experience to say the least.
I look forward to reading how you experience life in the US.
